India Flood Relief

LATEST NEWS: A CoAid survey team recently visited the fishing villages of Didigu and Pondugala in Andhra Pradesh. These villages are extremely poor, their only source of income being from the fish they catch in the Krishna River.

The villagers have lost everything and are desperate. Our team met people who were crying and seemed hopeless. The floods washed away their fishing nets and destroyed many boats. They have asked CoAid to help them obtain new fishing nets so they can reestablish their livelihoods.

Each net costs $65 (3,000 Indian Rupees) and can last 4-5 years before needing to be replaced. We're raising funds to purchase 100 new nets. No one else is helping these people and without the ability to provide any income their current situation looks bleak.

You can help us when you purchase a fishing net or make a donation of any amount.

The photo slideshow below shows the first 2 relief trips in which we have reached about 1,200 people.

In the first trip, we reached a village called Peteru in the Repalle region of Andhra Pradesh where we distributed 1,000lb rice, 500 bottles of cooking oil, 100 blankets, cooking pots, bread, biscuits, and tarpaulin sheets. We were able to reach at least 700 people.

Thank you!
