Submitted by CoAid on 12 July 2010 - 9:23pm
Six months to the day after a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, CoAid is still committed to sending healing and restoration to the country.
Right now, we have need for a construction engineer with many years professional experience to join a CoAid needs assessment team to travel to Haiti sometime late August or early September. You must have specific experience with earthquake/hurricane proof construction using concrete.
- Who can volunteer? A professional with many years experience with large concrete buildings, with particular knowledge and experience of earthquake and hurricane proof construction techniques. Must be a team player. Good spoken and written communication skills. Current passport. Good health and level of fitness. Ability to speak French would be an asset, but not required.
- How much time will it take? We plan to be in Haiti for no more than 1 week.
- Are there any special requirements? The individual will be expected to write a detailed report with their recommendations for construction.
- Is there an age requirement? No, but experience is important.
- Will expenses be paid? To be decided.
- Anything else? This may result in a short-term paid assignment in Haiti for the right person.
