It Happened 30 Days Ago!

30 days ago a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the country of Haiti. An esimated 230,000 people died. 1.5 million people have been directly affected by the disaster.

I recently returned from a short visit to Haiti where I saw the devastation at first hand and met many survivors who told me their stories of survival and loss.

I met one man who lost 10 children. I met a woman who pointed to the remains of her home and told me "my son is buried beneath the rubble". I met a young university student who told me "my world has exploded. The university is ruined. What am I to do now?"

The need in Haiti is great. CoAid is working alongside a Haitian Christian organization called SKDE to deliver shelter materials to hundreds of homeless families before the rains arrive in April.
