First assessment of the India Floods

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

Bhargav Kurapait, our contact for India has reported that the situation in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka is "awful" with an estimated 1,500 people dead.

Bhargav, who happens to be in Denver right now was up until the early hours this morning on the phone to India organizing and planning with volunteers. Already, 3 teams comprising Christians from local universities have been organized to distribute the relief supplies. Each team has 5 people under the leadership of an experienced member. Because we have no dedicated CoAid vehicles at hand we will have to rent 3 vehicles to get the relief supplies to their final destination.

We're counting on the generosity of CoAid supporters and friends for financing the relief operation. We need at least $3,600 urgently within the next 24 hours. All we can do is ask and pray for a small miracle that the funds will become available.

You can help us -- please visit our India Flood Appeal web page.

I'll post more information as it becomes available.

Thank you and God bless you.
