CoAid is now an official 501(c)(3)

You can imagine my excitement this morning when I opened the CoAid mail and learned that the IRS has approved CoAid as an official 501(c)(3) organization!

This means several things for CoAid and our financial supporters.

First, as a tax-exempt organization we will be sending tax receipts to our supporters for all donations made to CoAid. For every dollar you contribute, the government will give you a tax credit. This is a very important incentive to some donors.

Second, as a recognized tax-exempt non-profit, CoAid can start applying for grant funding through private foundations and (eventually) government sources. This will significantly increase our ability to extend our operations.

We're really excited about this!

On a related note, we're pleased to announce that our Africa fund-raising campaign is going very well. We're still needing support for buying goats and help with the cassava grinding machine.
